STPM

University Requirement

  • A pass in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / equivalent with credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia paper in July and pass History (2019 onwards) in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM);
  • A pass the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Examination with at least CGPA 2.50 and Grade C in THREE (3) subjects including General Studies.

Programme Requirement

  • Obtain at least Grade C in the following subjects at STPM level
    • Biology
    • Chemistry/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Additional Mathematics/ Economics/ Accounting/ Geography
  •       Obtain at least Grade C in the following subjects at the SPM level.
    • Biology
    • Chemistry/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Additional Mathematics/ Economics/ Accounting/ Geography
  •      Obtain Grade C TWO (2) other subjects besides the chosen EXCLUDING Bahasa Melayu at SPM level

  • Possess a Diploma or other qualification recognized as equivalent by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the University Senate.

  • Obtain at least CGPA 2.75 at Diploma level in a related field.
  •  Obtain at least Grade C in the following subjects at SPM level

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Senior High School/ Senior Secondary School/ Other Certifications from government schools (with the period of at least 11 or 12 years of study from primary to higher secondary);

OR

  • Pass General Certificate of Education (GCE)/ A-Level;

OR

  • Diploma in related field;

OR

  • Any other Certificate that is recognised and approved by the Senate of the University;

AND

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Band 5.0;

OR

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL IBT) score of 45;

  • Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Band 3.

FACULTY REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least Grade B (CGPA 3.0) in GCE (A-Level) / equivalent

AND

  • At least Grade B (GPA 3.0) in GCE A-Level/equivalent for Biology

Bachelor of Plant Breeding Technology with Honours will be first offered in session September 2021/2022. The programme has received the quality certificate from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA/PA 14309) and the accreditation from the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT). Bachelor of Plant Breeding Technology with Honours offers a full-time study in industrial mode (2u2i). The programme duration is three and half (3.5) years covering seven (7) semesters consisting of five (5) regular semesters and two (2) semesters of final year project and industrial training as preparation of embarking real-world scientific research and working experience at the same time. Teaching and learning methods for each course are conducted through lectures, tutorials, practical, industrial training and work-based learning.

The program aims to foster highly skilled, knowledgeable and holistic plant breeders and biotechnologists who will promote sustainable food security and better nutrition while improving agriculture-based incomes and reducing reliance on foreign expertise.
